INCENTIVE, VISITING ARTIST +
AFTER-SCHOOL FUNDS

Get funding for art & music supplies for your classroom, bring a visiting artist to your school, or get supplies for the after-school program! (Kingdom East School District & affiliate high schools only.)

INFORMATION

Please Note: Late applications or funding for past events will not be considered. No funding for transportation available.

 

Purpose

These three separate funds are designed to initiate exploration of new projects in the arts or add significantly to existing programs in ways not possible without the fund’s support.

​

Activities/Projects Eligible for Funding

The Incentive fund could be used for arts related projects and special purchases. The Visiting/Guest Artist fund can be used for a visiting artist to work with you and the students. The ASP funds can be used for either category.

​

Application Expectations

Include all pertinent information that describes your project, total costs, and purpose. Please note that your department head/principal’s signature is required on the application. No funding will be awarded after the event takes place.

​

Funding will be distributed in 2 ways. When we approve your initial application, you will be sent 75% of the funding. You will receive the remaining 25% when you have submitted some sort of acknowledgement (thank you note, press release, or receipt of supplies/tickets) of receiving the grant and proof that the event/purchase of supplies or tickets has occurred. Documentation of these is necessary due to auditing purposes.

Unclaimed funding will be put into a first-come, first-served umbrella fund (our Discretionary Fund) which is available to apply for at the end of each year. Decisions on this fund are made in May of each year.

PERFORMANCE FUND

Bring your students to a performance or bring a performance to your school! (Kingdom East School District & affiliate high schools only.)

INFORMATION

Burklyn will pay 100% of the ticket price for all Catamount daytime performances and will pay up to 75% of the ticket price/or total cost of performance for all other requests.

No chaperone tickets or funding for transportation are covered.

Funding will be distributed in 2 ways. When we approve your initial application, you will be sent 75% of the funding. You will receive the remaining 25% when you have submitted some sort of acknowledgement (thank you note, press release, or receipt of tickets) of receiving the grant and proof that the event or tickets has occurred. Documentation of these is necessary due to auditing purposes.

Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury, the Flynn Theater in Burlington, or the Wang Theater in Boston, and other similar places could be destinations to see a performance.

Consideration will be given to requests for all other projects, such as performances scheduled to appear at respective school or on an individual basis at the time of the application.

​

Availability of funds in based on current populations of schools as of Sept. 2018.

DISCRETIONARY FUND

This fund is community, individuals or groups. Funding is limited to $200 per application. This fund specifically serves the communities of Burke, Concord, East Haven, Gilman, Lunenburg, Lyndon, Newark, Sheffield, Sutton, and Wheelock, Vermont.

INFORMATION

The funding in this category supports the special year round activities of individuals, home schooled students, pre-school programs, arts organizations or arts collaborative in the community. This fund could support and enhance such programs as arts programs in a summer school setting, special art education materials for a project, guest artists, arts workshops, etc. Activities to occur during the summer months need to be submitted and reviewed no later than our June meeting.

Funding will be distributed in 2 ways. When we approve your initial application, you will be sent 75% of the funding. You will receive the remaining 25% when you have submitted some sort of acknowledgement (thank you note, press release, or receipt of supplies/tickets) of receiving the grant and proof that the event/purchase of supplies or tickets has occurred. Documentation of these is necessary due to auditing purposes. The deadline for the second round of funding is 1 month after initial application; all documentation needs to be submitted for payment unless other prior arrangements have been made.

ANNUAL EVENT FUND

This fund is to financially assist Annual Events that take place within the community or a school within the Kingdom East School District, which includes Lyndonville, Burke, Sutton, East Haven, Newark, Sheffield/Wheelock, Lunenberg and Concord. If the funding is for a group of students, the majority of the recipients must be from, or go to school, in these towns. Examples of Annual Events we have funded include: Vermont Children's Theater, LSC Upward Bound at Bread & Puppet, Vermont State Dance Festival and Powers Park Arts & Crafts Summer Program. Funding is limited to $500 per application.

COMMUNITY FUND

This fund is to enhance and make possible funding for arts events within a town/village community. It will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Funding for this grant is open-ended, but reserved to the towns of Lyndonville, Burke, Sutton, East Haven, Newark, Sheffield, Wheelock, Concord, Lunenberg and Gilman, VT.
